SLOW TRAVEL IS ABOUT MAKING CONSCIOUS CHOICES.

IT IS ABOUT DECELERATION RATHER THAN SPEED.

The Slow Tourism Academy offers two massive open online courses (MOOCs) on this platform. This initiative aims to provide courses developped by and for people interested in Slow-Tourism and E-Tourism.

There are no requirements to participate apart from your motivation and interest in the proposed topics.
There are three components for our courses:

  1. Videos, split into short video sequences of 5 to 10 minutes, graphics and other material;

  2. Quiz and assessments to evaluate learners’ knowledge and allow them to follow the next module;

  3. Learners’ monitoring via discussion forums.

We have estimated 6 weeks (3 periods of 14 days, each period for each submodule) as the proper duration of one MOOC including the time needed to do the exercises. It is a brief period of time, but it ensures a deep immersion into the topic and the achievement of the learning objectives.
A general discussion forum was created in order to allow Slow Tourism and E-Tourism actors to exchange with people interested in these fields.
The 2 MOOCs were first launched in 2019 by SlowTourismacademy and created by the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and the University of Madeira (UMA).

You can visit the video gallery to watch a preview of the course's modules: Video Gallery.
